Over the past few weeks the committee, and other willing helpers, have put a major effort into contacting as many folk as possible for our September jubilee celebrations. Using the 1985 centennial registration record as a starting point we have built a new database and attempted, with some detective work, to trace everyone we can. We realise this is incomplete so encourage you to ask around to make sure all, who may be interested, know what is happening.
For some of you this will be the first time you have heard from us – we have been given email addresses and found others while others have made contact through the website. Some of you have already offered us details about photos and other titbits – you will be contacted individually in the coming days. Some of you have helped us in material ways with your professional expertise and through sponsorship. Thank you.
What we would really appreciate now is your involvement.
- Obviously we want you to register for the Jubilee – the form can be downloaded from the website or you can ask us to send it to you.
- Please subscribe (using your email address) to our website – this will ensure you receive updates each time something new is published.
- If you are on Facebook join our Facebook group (the group is open so you don’t need to be a member to view it).
- Please send us your recollections for inclusion in the story of our schools.
- Check out the photos both on the website and on our Facebook pages and help put names to faces.
During June and July we will hold working bees (at Karapiro School) to bring together stories and photos – especially, though not exclusively, about the last 25 years. Using the 1985 Centennial book as the basis we intend producing a Second Edition with updated material. We have yet to decide what form this will take – a book or perhaps more likely a ‘virtual book’ on DVD. We are in the process of digitizing the 1985 book so it can be integrated with the new material.
Last but by no means least we encourage current Whitehall and Karapiro School families to join in and provide us with some some up-to-date stories and reflections on our schools as they are in 2010.
